The PowerBand construction allows multiple belts to function as a single unit, with even load distribution and each strand fitting securely in the sheave groove.
Markets/Applications
Recommended for multiple V-belt drives exposed to pulsating or heavy shock loads which can make belts whip, turn over or jump off the drive.

The Gates Quad-Power® belt has undergone several evolutions in design since its introduction over 15 years ago. New materials and advanced-design features have led to a new generation of Quad-Power® III V-belt drives that outperform all similarly sized belt drives in a wide range of applications, yielding cost advantages for users, and greater design freedom for engineers.

Construction Features :
  • The basic belt consists of a newly developed rubber compound which withstands chemically aggressive environments (acid and base), ageing, ozone, UV and heat. Even with severe slippage, the belt will not catch fire from heat build-up.
  • High-performance fibres embodied in the compound provide improved abrasion and wear resistance.
  • The outstanding cord support in the undercord section achieved by the transverse orientation of the fibres reinforces the belt's overall longitudinal flexibility and transverse rigidity.
  • The special notch profile with optimised geometry ensures perfect belt stability.
  • The precision-ground sidewalls give a uniform wedging action.
  • The tensile section consists of high-strength, low-elongation polyester tensile cords which are embedded in a newly developed blue-coloured adhesion layer. This layer develops an extra high bonding level between tensile cords and undercord material.
  • The exceptional flexibility gives the belt excellent reversed bending properties when backside idlers are used.

PowerGrip® HTD® and Timing belts have historically been the most commonly used rubber synchronous belt profiles in the industry. Gates originated the HTD tooth profile, whose curvilinear design delivers greater load capacity than trapezoidal-toothed Timing belts.

Gates offers the industry’s greatest range of standard belt lengths and widths. Gates small pitch sizes are ideal for precision positioning and light power applications, such as office machines and robotic equipment. PowerPainT™ synchronous belt is specifically developed for use inpainting areas, as found in the automotive and white goods industrieswhere contamination of the painted product, from whatever source,is unacceptable. PowerPainT™ ensures excellent performance onskid and roller conveyor systems where there may be a serious risk ofproduct contamination. It passes the most stringent tests establishedby the automotive industry, which requires all components specified for use in a paint and varnish environment to be free of any source of contamination. Gates’ PowerPainT™ belt ensures freedom of lubricationand maintenance, and paint and varnish compatibility. Contamination risks are excluded.

The PowerPainT™ belt range has been largely extended and now comprises endless belts in 5M, 8M, 14M, 8MGT and 14MGT pitches and in pitch lengths from 180 mm up to 4578 mm; and Long Length belts in 5M, 8M, 14M, 5MR and 8MR pitches. PowerPainT™ Long Length belting features the same basic construction as the endless version and has fibreglass tensile cords.

Gates EuroGrip® flexible couplings consist of a rubber sleeve and two metal end pieces. The design of Gates EuroGrip® flexible couplings is unique, with its OGEE lines(1) allowing the coupling to act as a torque/life indicator for the drive.

 

Gates EuroGrip® flexible couplings are available in sizes 19, 28, 42, 48 and 60 and are bored to suit a taper bush or a plain bore and keyway. Gates EuroGrip® flexible couplings have high vibration damping capacity, which makes them especially suitable for direct drive applications in pumps and compressors.

Notes;
Sprocket part numbers are comprised of pitch, number of grooves and width.

 

For example; part number P27-8MGT-30 denotes 27 grooves, 8mm pitch and 30mm width.

 

On a sprocket, pitch is the distance between groove centers and is measured on the pitch circle of the sprocket. The pitch circle of the sprocket coincides with the pitch line of the belt mating with it. The pitch diameter of the sprocket is always greater than its outside diameter.

Idlers are used to take-up extra belt length and provide adjustment for tensioning belt drives. Idler pulleys and sprockets can alter belt paths and clear obstructions.

Markets/Applications

Recommended for drives with limited take-up or no center distance adjustment. Idlers may remain in a fixed location or may be adjustable to allow belt pre-tension take-up.

 

Features/Advantages;

 

  • Idler sprockets, flat idlers and idler bushings contain sealed ball bearings and an integral shaft for mounting to adjustable idler brackets.
  • Lubrication and maintenace are not required.
  • Idler assembly may consist of: idler sprockets and bracket, flat idler and bracket, standard sheave or sprocket used with an idler bearing and idler bracket.
